GINGER BEER STONE BOTTLE

GINGER BEER STONE BOTTLE
I was flicking through some of my unorganised postcards and noticed this picture of an old stone bottle - in this instance it had been used for ginger beer. That reminded me how we used to make ginger beer as kids - happy days!
As for what connection there is between the bottle and the mouse, I have no idea. The reverse of the postcard simply says Photograph by George McCarthy

It apparently does NOT work against rodents? ;-)
ReplyDeleteOshi Shikigami I guess you have to keep trying until you find something that does work!
ReplyDeleteMelvin Cownzowfski Thanks - unfortunately haven't been able to establish the date of the bottle.
ReplyDeleteI am cole friends with WAG, myself. figuring/guessing development times for different film/developer combos at different temperatures always required one...
ReplyDeleteThe plastic (looking) screw cap says it isn't very old. No more than say 75 years if that.
ReplyDeleteMargaret Siemers Could well be 1940s. I do wonder though if the cap was added for the mouse to sit on.
ReplyDeleteSome mysteries are simply to ponder. We may never know. ; ) Mike Perry
ReplyDeleteWell,my uneducated guess is: the mouse likes ginger:
ReplyDeleteNadya Domino He's probably wondering how to get the top off the bottle.
ReplyDeleteMelvin Cownzowfski Now there's a problem ...
ReplyDeleteNow guys,a can of worms has been rudely opened, how can the jar be opened, well, what if the mouse just like to sniff the smell of ginger???there is a hole in the stopper?but is the ginger evaporated,,maybe just the fumes suffice😕😕😕
ReplyDeleteNadya Domino, Tru-Nuf. It is a huge assuming, on our part...
ReplyDeleteOshi Shikigami I think it is a lot of fun ,being silly seems a natural part of my nature, the child in us wants to play I like Turf-Nuf.....
ReplyDeleteYes! it's true. And I feel the same. May we all be young, and impulsive. it is what we all draw upon, as we get older...
ReplyDeleteOshi Shikigami BRAVO !!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteRemembering childhood things as we do here is what ultimately keeps us young at heart and makes life sweeter in the here and now. The young at heart are happier, healthier, people.
ReplyDeleteSo being a member here is good for you. lol
Margaret Siemers Well said!
ReplyDeleteNadya Domino & Oshi Shikigami & Margaret Siemers Perhaps the mouse had a headache - I have just read that Sniffing ginger causes sneezing which relieves headaches
ReplyDeleteDo mice get headaches, or do they give them?
