Hi Everyone

Hi Everyone,
Yes, we will be going to MEWE, at least for now and until something better comes up.
I have not completed the transfer to them yet because of several important reasons.
One the transfer of the community information has been a horror to get through, but I have it on good authority that by March 15th google will have a reliable way to transfer information from here. (nice of them to wait so long, but then they haven't been nice about any of this have they?)
Second, I know I have been saying this for the longest time, and even gave you a false start a while back, but...I am having the surgery for my hearing implant on Friday the 15 of Feb. (Cochlear Implant) It is written in stone, they will be doing it. lol After almost 7 years of having only about 30% hearing in only one ear I will be better, stronger, faster....Oh no, wait that's Steve Austin the Bionic Man. ; )
Just please hang in there with me a few more weeks and we can move with ease.

So much gratitude to Ann Kennedy and my star powered Moderators Evelon Burley, Laurent Truillet, Oshi Shikigami and Tom Brydon for all they have done for me these many months. I never meant to be absent as long or as often as I have been.
Our regular contributors and commenters are right up there in my book too.

And I will leave you with a photo I am considering as our new masthead, let me know what you think of it.

  4. I am so glad to hear from you and so very, very glad that your surgery is going to happen! That's the most wonderful news of all. I like the picture, but the mom forgot her pearls. Oh well. We'll see you when we see you! Thinking of you with all the best for a successful procedure.

After having tested some of the other networks (ease to communicate, uploading, downloading), I also think that MeWe is the "least worst" of them all, and I'm glad most of us seem to be going that way.
I wish you full success with your surgery.

  9. INDIA STREET ANTIQUES / DANISH MODERN SAN DIEGO , Laurent Truillet Mike Srok and Ann Kennedy Thanks for connecting with me on Mewe.

I saw Mewe's announcement that they have added public posts, and have added pages, and I believe I saw something about communities too. They seem to be going after the G+ refugees.

  11. Thank you all so much for the good wishes and I am not real happy with the way this photo comes out on Mewe but...anything can be fixed, I am proof of that. lol
    Hugs to you all.

  12. INDIA STREET ANTIQUES / DANISH MODERN SAN DIEGO I will be bending your ear in the weeks to come. You are so smart about using the new platform that I would be silly not to.

  15. Hi Margaret Siemers, have you been able to download the community content with google takeout https://takeout.google.com? (tip: download in JSON format)

This is a helpful article: http://bit.ly/mewe-migration

There's some more google info here support.google.com - Download your Google+ data - Google+ Help

I'm new to this too, but if you would like any help with the data download or the Mewe community setup, I'd be glad to volunteer.

  16. Steve Hart, I have it all downloaded just fine, But I am having a problem uploading, asked your help on your mewe chat page

  17. Jeff Diver Your Blogspot looks like a more complete archive than what I'm expecting from Mewe. I'm in line right now for my G+ data to get imported. From what I read, group posts get pulled in and hash tagged by group name but not sorted to their own group. Margaret Siemers what Jeff suggests could make a nice Vintage Life archive and Mewe could be for new posts moving forward. It would also save on space. I believe Mewe's free service caps out a 8 gigs.

  18. Jeff Diver Steve Hart Thanks guys. I accept the help. I have downloaded everything in both formats, I just keep having my real time life get in the way of doing anything with it.
Here is the link to the MEWE page I have. It is also an ask to join page like here, so please be patient with requests being answered.

  21. Steve Hart Thanks. It will take me awhile to "polish" these sites. So far it appears the G+ comments on each post will be preserved along with the posts. Google has warned we will lose these. I guess we'll have to wait until 2 April to find out, but I'm hoping we will not.

Here's the official Google line: "Google+ Comments: Support for Google+ comments will be turned down, and all blogs using Google+ comments will be reverted back to using Blogger comments. Unfortunately, comments posted as Google+ comments cannot be migrated to Blogger and will no longer appear on your blog."

There are bound to be imperfections. One of my posts was stripped of its attached URL and image. I'll see if I can comment on it in Blogger to make the correction.

Blogger is pretty good, but it's not Google+!

  22. Here's a first run (with much editing left to be done) of our archived blog: [ vintagelifearchives.blogspot.com - Vintage Life Archives ] Suggestions welcome!

  23. That's awesome Jeff Diver It's nice the comments are there too!

  24. It's great you did this Jeff Diver . My G+ to Mewe import that was in their queue finally went through. It didn't include comments and group posts just got a tag with no dialog to sort them to a group.

  25. Jeff Diver, I can never thank you enough for doing this. It's wonderful and so are you. Huge cyber hug to you for this one.
