  1. I can't say for sure, but I don't think we had shops like this when I was a kid. There was always a candy counter to head for in stores, but this must have felt like heaven to kids.
    That said, on a recent trip to Gettysburg PA.( a very historic town not far from where I live) I did see and go in a shop looking just like this. I saw confections I had never seen before, and some old favorites too. It was a "sweet" experience. David Bennett and so are you for posting. Thank you!

  2. Yes used to be quite common to have a sweet shop in most towns in the UK but tend. now to be in more of the tourist areas or traditional villages. Certainly remember getting a bag of strawberry bon bons or chocolate mice.

  4. Yes, we had candy cigarettes too. And they had branding on the box of popular adult cigarettes. (at least that was the impression it let on a kid like me back then.) David Bennett John T
