  1. Love this photo! I used to walk to the corner and wait for the mailman to empty the collection box, which was more like the big green one here. He would give me my letters before he got to my house and as a young teenager I loved the privacy that provided me:-) Thanks for the great post! No pun intended.

  2. Ann Kennedy glad you like it, we have red boxes and vehicles here in the UK

  3. Thank you John T, another good share but I am wondering: is the Green accurate for the colors of the postal boxes and truck? I know things were different in the 40s due to the war, but I have seen boxes like the one on the pole with better colors. Anyone out there know?

  4. Thank you for your memories Ann Kennedy and I am wondering...Is this still done in large cities ? I haven't seen "Carrier Boxes" on the streets for ages. Your story was a good reminder that times change.

  5. Margaret Siemers I think that the green of the truck and the box on the pole was done in editing the photo. I don’t think there are too many collection boxes anymore, mainly just the typical blue mailboxes in the shape of the large one here. I’ve seen boxes on poles but they are red, white and blue.

  6. That's what I was thinking, but it's nice to have a second opinion. Thanks for that Ann Kennedy
