I was on the "cultural" committee and we were responsible for selecting artists to come to campus.The last one of the school year could be a rock or pop performance. There were 4 nominations from the student body and one was Elton John. I was very excited about that possibility, swearing he would rise fast and everyone looked at me like I was nuts and they all said, "Who?" In the end I was voted down 5:1 for the group, Vanilla Fudge. It was 1968.
