Blissfully Astray

Blissfully Astray

It's May Day, about 1938 at Southwest Missouri State University. My father took the picture of this beloved traditional spring holiday of dancing around the May Pole. As a child, we would visit shops and ask for any discarded wallpaper sample books, often coming home with several. We then removed the paper, shaped it into cones, and filled with flowers. After attaching a ribbon handle, we would go around the neighborhood and hang them on the doors of our older neighbors. Over time, flowers were replaced with cookies. Have a great week, Everyone.

  5. Now if your lucky you get a text and a smiley face.
That was a nice tradition, it's a shame we don't preserve the simple kindnesses we practiced once.
As a child, we would always take flowers to school on May 1st for the May Day Procession.
