The Wiltshire Blvd Brown Derby, Los Angeles 1955.
This is the original one that opened in 1926. There was actually two in LA - a second one opened in Hollywood.
Both were named after a popular New York state restaurant.
I just love seeing this one Tom Brydon. I remember on the old "I Love Lucy" show that they sometimes ate at The Brown Derby in Hollywood. As a child the shape of this establishment was fascinating to me.
ReplyDeleteWonderful photo Tom Brydon! Margaret Siemers you have me laughing thinking of those episodes!
ReplyDeletePam WhimsicalVintage It was the most glamorous non glamorous show ever made I think. Stars, Hollywood and a sort of normal housewife and mother. Fun shows that still are.
ReplyDeleteWell put Margaret Siemers, that's exactly it! That show will never get old to me no matter how many times I see an episode.

ReplyDeletePing to Pam WhimsicalVintage to check out what Tom found for us.
ReplyDeleteTom Brydon My favorite one!!! Thank you so much for finding it. William Holden was great!
ReplyDeleteThe street lamp is an inside down pawn shop sign!
ReplyDeletefrank o'shea You're right by gosh. Never thought of them that way as they were common in the USA, as was the other old street lamp on the other side. Good eye for spotting that. : )
ReplyDeleteTHANKS FRANK O'SHEA!!! LOVE THAT COMMENT!!!
