  5. A great addition to the Fred Harvey collection this community has posted! The scene is also very interesting with the tourists buying souvenirs I assume. Wonderful postcard!

  6. Ann Kennedy This is set in the former Alvarado Hotel of Albuquerque, which Fred Harvey built. The hotel was connected to the train station. Native Americans would sit under the portals and sell pottery and jewelry and other wares. I remember buying necklaces made of colored corn and other souvenirs. But some items were also very nice, like turquoise jewelry. That hotel burned a few years back, and the train station was rebuilt in its liking. Now Native American still sell wares but under the Palace of the Governors in Santa Fe as well as under the portals in Old Town in Albuquerque. These are beautiful pieces, not trinkets and not what we would consider souvenirs but rather fine jewelry.

  7. Roma Arellano Yes, I have been to Santa Fe and recently had an interesting conversation with a friend who purchased a wonderful necklace from a woman there decades ago. She recently returned to Santa Fe, wearing her necklace and a very old woman called to her. Turns out she had made the necklace and recognized it. I thought it was a sweet story.

  9. Ann Kennedy That's a goosebump story! Thank you so much for sharing it.
I have a feeling that you've been to every spot in this big country of ours. Between urban wanderings and rural wanderings, they're probably all in there:).

  12. Roma Arellano Ann is my US tour guide via her photography. She's amazing with that camera...and speaking of birds (in the other post), you should see her bird photography. They love her and look like they purposefully pose for her:)

  13. Pam WhimsicalVintage Ann Kennedy, are you an animal whisperer? I use the term half jokingly yet some people truly do connect with and attract animals. My husband is definitely a bird whisperer. I used to blog under a pseudonym for about five years. When my husband hit some serious heart trouble and we need to be all hands on deck to get him through, resulting ultimately in open heart surgery at the young age of 52!, I quit blogging. But I'll share privately to you two a post I did on his ways with birds. I don't want to hijack this thread. :)

  14. I believe I am a, "dragon whisperer." That is dragon lizards. I have had, worked with, and don rescue work for them for over three decades. Nearly all lizards will show no fear of me, and many actually seem interested, in coming closer. I have help diagnose ailments (I am not a vet.) If I have one out, they will often make effort to rest, on a bed with me. I have 'broken,' several very bad cases of auto offensive reactions to people, having them returned content to be held. And so on. :-)
