Hurray.
Hurray. Old Henry (The Barometer on the right) is back on the wall after his accident (front glass broke). The barometer on the left is a standard size barometer, so Old Henry is a bit of a monster.
He was made by Jasper Redfern,Opticians,Sheffield.
Circa 1900. So Old Henry has been predicting the weather for 117 years.
He is usually correct, showing rain at the moment.

moonlight shadow They are rather nice. Old Henry can be a bit grumpy sometimes and refuse to move his pointer for a day or so.
ReplyDeleteDon't mess with Old Henry, after all he's recovering from quite a serious injury! The carving on both of these is wonderful. Great pieces! I only hope I can SEE the weather when I'm 117:-)
ReplyDeleteMy father was an officer in the weather corps. in WWII. He said that the best forecasters were right, about 50% of the time! ;-)
ReplyDeleteAnn Kennedy me too.
ReplyDeleteI am happy Old Henry is recovering from his mishap and is back where he belongs on the wall.
ReplyDeleteI also see an interesting little bear under glass nearby. Can we someday see a full on photo of him and hear his story too?
I do Thank you Darran Hughes for your comments and all the photo's you have been posting, please do not feel pressured over the beast under glass. : )
Margaret Siemers will post some soon. He needs to be in a good light so you can observe the items at his feet.
