I find it quite sad to view this.

  1. Why sad? The picture is beautiful and you're quite good nowadays ☺☺

  2. Arlene Gasparello I think he means that he was just a child still then and life was so bright in front of him. And now everything has changed it's not the same world that it was back then. Things have changed drastically. And when you get older you feel like you don't have that much to look forward to anymore. I could be wrong but I think that's probably what he means. I have the same feeling when I look at a childhood picture of myself. Just It's sad to get older. But nonetheless it is a beautiful picture.

  3. The saddest problem about getting older is that the body gets older and the mind does not.

  4. Laurent Truillet that is so true. I still feel the same in my mind as when I was 18. Only I don't look at any more. And that's sad.

  5. Evelon Burley I agree with this point. As wonderful Paul McCartney said: "I believe in yesterday .... "

  6. Thank you Evelon Burley that's exactly how I feel. The saying "youth is wasted on the young" is very apt. I look back at the person, the young lad in the photo, and sometimes want to do it all again. But we can't & time has passed so quickly. I'll stop right there.

  9. As a christian I am prompted to say this; There is a life to come. Do take care of it while you still can so's not to repeat the regret side of things when you arrive there. God bless.

  11. I have just now found this post, David Bennett and the comments are so kind it reminds me that we all share much in common at this age and I for one, am grateful that we share openly about so many things. Your picture is lovely and innocent, but I've seen a recent one and I know you have much wisdom and grace having lived as you have lived. Not only that, you have shared such fascinating and enjoyable stories of your youth, and of your Lincolnshire and surrounding area through your blogs. Those bring much pleasure to the rest of us!
