For Darran Hughes and others who are interested.

For Darran Hughes and others who are interested. This was left in our house after some remodeling a couple of years ago and we asked everyone who worked who this belongs to and no one knew or claimed it. It's very threadbare but works beautifully. The other side of the tape is bare and there are no maker marks on it.

  1. My father had one much like that, about half a century ago. :-)

  2. We also have one very similar to yours. It is 10 meters long, and graduated in centimeters.
The mention on it reads "Echt leder", which means "Real leather" in Dutch. (If it was German, it would read "Echter Leder !)
And if you look closely, it's my father who wrote his name on it !

  4. Laurent Truillet I like the crank mechanism on these measuring tapes. Yours is in very nice condition.

  8. Ann Kennedy I have a very old one from about 1914. It has the British army arrow on it. Constructed from leather and cloth. Now I know it's in my garage somewhere. When I dig it out I will post a picture.
