A personal story... in the 60s my Mother-in-Law and her husband went to Las Vegas and took in one of Don's shows. About half way through Mother-in-law found the need to visit the Ladies Room and got up to go.
She was dressed to the Nines, and had kept her full length Mink Coat over her shoulders because she found it chilly in the room and kept it on as she rose to leave.
Rickles, who had been making fun of the audience for being a tough crowd spotted her leaving, pointed to her and said "Hey Lady! Where ya taking that coat? It's given me the best laughs all night!"
Of course the room had been in stitches the entire evening and only got worse with Mr. Rickles latest admonishment. My most proper Mother-in-law was mortified over being singled out, but always loved to recount the time she became an unwilling part of his act.
Love him or hate him, many of us grew up with him and remember him one last time.
