Title

TO ALL MEMBERS, PLEASE READ.

Community Rules are on the far left of your screen beneath/under the tab that says "About Community" Please read them before you post. I do not warn about inappropriate posts more than once.

The new G+ can make us crazy sometimes. So I wanted to let you all know...If you are not seeing the latest posts in your stream when you visit You Can Fix That! (and you need to do it for each community you are in if you want to see the most recent items.)

First, see the three dots in a row in front of the hat brim on our Community Avitar lady?

Click on that, then go to preferences and click on that.

Than next to "Sort by top posts or most recent" to the right, change your preferences from "top posts' to "Most Recent" to get the full benefit of this community.

For some reason G+ has made everyone's default as Top Posts, and while it may work in some communities it will make this one static for you.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I will do the best I can to help you. And Thanks for being members here. You all are awesome!

  1. Why the hell they had to change all of them to the new setting - And no universal way to set them back, makes me very angry. I have to "fix" over a hundred communities this tedious way, so I don't miss posts...

  2. Oshi Shikigami I know. So you want to go to the "Send Feedback" setting at the lower right of your screen. And tell them. Everyone connected with g+ says google is listening. If it is we need to tell them this new g mostly sucks. It makes keeping the community harder and this is not my only one. So please be kind and ask questions folks and I will help if I can, or find out for you. It doesn't need to be a question for here either. Any question is valid.

  7. I also just posted to Community News the way you can get back to the single column in your g+ pages, and to turn off that scrolling comment thing I detest so much. I can only pin one thing at a time so you may need to search the community for "Hey Gang!" : )

  8. I'm so glad that you are helping us to navigate all the changes. Thank you very, very much. I'm chronically confused, but I think I can get it eventually:-)

Thanks for the explanations, Margaret. It took me some time to realize that the posts were presented in a random order, which is totally useless if you try to go back to any particular one.
I have noticed that Google (and also Microsoft) have a tendency to keep on canceling the most interesting actions. I think we'd better not tell Google that we prefer "most recent" first, by fear that they will cancel it also...
I am presently struggling to create an album of about 10 photos on G+, including separate explanations on each photo, but I'm not sure that it is possible.

  14. I am not help to you on the photo's Laurent Truillet Perhaps someone over in G+ Help or that does things with Photo Albums can help more. I know Mike Martin David Bennett Darran Hughes Ann Kennedy Mike Perry Mike Srok Oshi Shikigami to name only a handful that I know do use photo options can help.

  15. Laurent Truillet, if you are referring to what Google calls a "Collection," it might be possible. First thing is to start a new collection. Lots easier than working with one that has photos you don't want.

Have all your photos handy in one place. Be sure they are all .jpg, .png or .gif. I find it handy to place them on my screen. But it doesn't mater, as long as you can grab them all at one, and no ones you don't want.

Start the new collection and drag the photos one by one, in order into it. Most times it will bee in order, or for some bizarre reason totally reversed order. If at this point it is not in order, just delete it and try again.

If it is almost all in order, you can take and click, and hold on the little equal sign on the corner of the picture that needs to be moved. if you need, you can move it several times, when it needs to be many pictures away. If you get one you do not want at all, just click on the X in the other corner, to delete.

This is the way it is supposed to work. Often it gets confused. But if it is to far messed up, delete entirely and start over. If that doesn't work, Delete the page itself! Try again on another fresh browser page. I have no good explanation why this works, but I have used it a lot, and only sometimes, it will make a difference with this or other issues too. Another day, also may help.

As with all Google issues, it is a "Crapshoot." I wish you good luck with it.

  16. Thank you Oshi Shikigami your input is much appreciated, and I think I may even find it beneficial.
Laurent Truillet if that isn't what you were talking about let us know and I can perhaps track it down for you if no one else knows. I know a few folks. lol

  17. Here is what works for me to create a google album Laurent Truillet. Click the top left hand corner of each of the 10 photos you want in the album. This will highlight them. Click the + in the menu on the top right side of the page and it will say Add to Album. Click on that and where is says Create New Album, give it a name. Then click the check mark (Done) at the top left side of the page. It will then group your photos and you can see the album by clicking on View, which will be at the bottom left of your screen. To label photos, double click to open a picture and then click on the little circle with the i in the center (information) to add your text. That's it! Hope it works for you.

Thank you all ever so much for your useful comments.
Still, it took me some time to find my way out of this problem, because I couldn't find the "Photos". I had never used this function before, and I didn't realize that I had to click on "plus" on the Google menu to find it.
Now, I finally tested the whole process of creating an album, showing my photos in the desired order and writing a comment on all of them.
But I googled enough for today... I'll continue tomorrow.
I swear that I was very close of giving up G+ altogether.
Thank you for keeping me on line...

  19. Laurent Truillet Honestly, almost every day I get pretty frustrated with G+ so I just shut down and walk away:-) I think the new version should be called F+, almost failing!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Ann Kennedy I fully agree with you and I cannot say much more.
I come to think that when I want to write a little story (with photos), I'd better do it on a document and send it by mail to persons who have been confident enough to let me know their e-mail.

  21. I hope it doesn't come to that Laurent Truillet too many people would lose out on seeing some truly wondrous things.
that said, you have mine, right? : )

Thank you Margaret, you are too kind !
And maybe I shall NOT leave G+ ! I have created my first album and posted it on Vintage Life. It is called "Rolling Home" We shall see what comes out of it. Thanks to the helpful comments given above, it wasn't too difficult. I am a very nervous man. I'm always ready to throw the baby out with the bathwater...
