ReplyDeleteThat's a rather poignant story and I bet Townsend's autobiography is quite interesting. To visit the enemy gunner and shake hands is a reminder of just how strange wartime can be. It's amazing that plane could be landed in its damaged condition, no less with survivors.

ReplyDeleteDarran Hughes You do find some interesting things for us to see. Gosh that must have made quite a clatter when it landed. Looking at the pictures it would look as if the wrong wing was shown as damaged in the drawing, but still a very good depiction of everything. Really enjoyed all of this, thank you.
