Today in history the last cigarette ad on TV and it was ad from Virginia Slim (You've come a long way baby)
aired on TV in 1971.
Many don't realize before it was colorized and more of a regular afterschool cartoon.
The resemblance of the Flinstones early yrs. from 60-63 very much mirrored the Honeymooners on which it was loosely based. Yet Hanna/ Barbera where fine as long as sponsors paid them with advertising thier products..MONEY TALKS
So In a nice Ytubed 3 min vid are all 3 of them here. Notice however the catchy theme song not changed over at this time because like the Simpsons they were originally targeted to adults and the shows themes were not geared toward children. But to see a Non P.C. time and classic homemaker women working man is fascinating especially when Fred, Wilma, Barney, Betty light up and mention WINSTON. So enjoy this time capsule as it was today cig. ads banned on T.V. in U.S.A.
