Another image from "The 1950's House". This is where the housewife would do the laundry, I'm assuming the Lotto appliance is a washing machine. Maybe someone can tell us more about it.
There was certainly no washing machine in my grandmother's wash house, only a coal fired copper, a wash tub, a wash board and carbolic soap.
