Oh, those were the days! Inexpensive gas, someone to fill your tank and wash all your windows for you AND if you filled the tank many times you got a nice gift you could use. Gone forever I am sad to say.
Margaret Siemers My grandma tells me about that stuff she was a little girl and her mother, my great grandmother had shelves of vases and plants and dishes all sorts of things she collected from the gas station man just like this one! She laughed when I told her to come look! :)
Margaret Siemers Well this picture actually puts a photograph to what grandma is talking about, because sometimes it is rather difficult to understand, like Great Grandma talked about waiting for a buses and the cigarette men would drive by and throw little boxes of cigarettes at her and the other people standing there waiting for a bus. Great grandma was 98 years old when she last talked to us girls. I miss her but grandma said that is part of life. My girlfriends and I cried anyway. No matter what we three girls were doing she would laugh and be delighted with it and she had advice about boys too she was sort of 1/2 there but sort of not, because what she said was always true!

ReplyDeleteLady Sandra Your Grandmother sounds like a lovely person. I am glad she relays the stories she does to you, they will be priceless to you one day.
