  1. When you consider the strength it must have taken for these folks to leave everything they knew behind and move to a strange new land, well is it any wonder this country became such a rich and wonderful country.
Thanks for a very interesting look back That Great Shop I know seeing them in color as opposed to the way they were taken somehow makes them that much more real and tangible.
That said, did anyone else think the dutch girl had solar panels in her hat?

  2. Margaret SiemersSeriously? What are those things on her head? Jewelry no doubt but I have never seen the like, and I made grandma look and she said no idea. I wonder what they are? or were?

  3. Lady Sandra Hat Pins I would think. They may be of Silver and perhaps have some carvings in them we can't make out, but they are more than likely ornamental hat pins.

  4. Margaret Siemers I wondered about those pins myself

  5. That Great Shop I enlarged the photo when I was in there and they look to be hat pins. What the things attached are (solar panels)I can only guess are some ornamentation on them.

  6. Margaret Siemers it seemed to me like they were maybe hair pins, holding that front curl in place? or Maybe the hat to the curl? very interesting either way. Some Dutch ancestors in our family so extra intriguing.
