Now ironically the Mack truck hood emblem looks nothing like the real bulldog used for the advertising (maybe the designer got the wrong memo lol) I would think this had a lot to do with the piece going into mass production so if it were an intricate piece the cost of producing each piece would of cost more. The emblem does have the shape of the American bulldog with its longer snout and cropped ears but I later learned the design was to incorp the bulldog and the truck which you maybe able to see in the front facing picture. The patent number is the original there are different emblems some even with lights as eyes and the crowning glory of a Mack trucks collection is to have the well sought after fire truck emblem. These are copied these days which is a shame but easy to spot as patent number is more like an international phone number than a patent, the original is silver coloured chrome this piece in gold colour was first made for a certain truck but was soon seen as collectible so they made more. Mack trucks makes millions a year through merchandise alone and very popular in a few demographics but I'm only interested in the bulldog side of the automobile company other collectors out there are hard core Mack and collect everything right down to the dust caps....

  1. Steve Hart want to make sure you see this on the Mack Truck Bulldog.
Eiffion Ashdown Yes, I can see it looks like a truck in the front view. Very interesting post, thank you for following up when you can. I think the request of Ann's is going to be harder so don't get yourself distraught over it. We enjoy what you have shown us already.
