MY NATIVE VILLAGE AND MY GRANDFATHER
MY NATIVE VILLAGE AND MY GRANDFATHER
Following my previous old postcard of Angleur (Liège), here is another one showing everybody on the street to make sure to be on the postcard.
This postcard is particularly precious to me because it shows (very poorly!) my grandfather's cart and horse. My grandfather is hidden by the person in front of the photo.
How do I know it's my grandfather ?
Because this card has been in our family all the time since it was available, and the many scratches near the cart show how many times someone has pointed at the cart and horse, thus proving that it cannot be anybody else...
Now this is awesome! I love the sense of this being handed from one person to the next as each one studies it. It is also interesting to see the paving bricks and operating window shutters. The scene reminds me of Philadelphia or New York in the same era. Wonderful family treasure!
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with Ann Kennedy on this one too. Love the zoom feature on g+ as I can get a better look at the horse and cart.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Laurent Truillet for sharing your family and your past history with us.
