OUR BEAUTIFUL TROLLEYBUSES

OUR BEAUTIFUL TROLLEYBUSES
Liège (Belgium) - 1967
I have read in a book about public transport that this trolleybus was the largest single deck trolleybus in the world. The series was built in Liège (Fabrique Natonale). The first time I read about them in the paper was in 1954 when they were put in service. I was 10 years old and I was flabbergasted that the interior lighting consisted of light tubes (same as in Star Wars). In those days, all lamps were still incandescent.
This type of T-buses remained in service until 1971. There is one preserved.

  1. Laurent TRUILLET how interesting! It is the shape of our school and city busses of that time. It even has wheels. Is that a center track it's running on?

There is a vocabulary problem between the US and French. In the US, a tramway or Interurban running on rails can also be called a 'trolley". In French, a trolleybus is always like a bus running on four wheel and guided by a steering wheel. The only difference with a bus is that a trolleybus has an electric motor picking its electricity from overhead wires.
But you are right : there are rails under the T-bus for a real tramways line running at the same place.
