This guy was Sgt. Stubby.  He fought in 17 battles in WWI.  Stubby was in the trenches in France for 18 months, survived being gassed and went on to warn his unit of incoming gas attacks and artillery shelling.  The Sergeant located wounded soldiers and helped capture a German soldier.  While he never won a medal, after the war he did become the Georgetown Hoyas’ mascot.
