As hard as it may be to believe, "video chat" actually predates the World Wide Web. In the Sixties various companies were working on video phones. One of them was Western Electric, who introduced their first Picturephone at the 1964 World's Fair. This is an ad for the 1969 model of their Picturephone. #throwbackthursday

  1. I remember a scene in one of the Dirty Harry movies where a picture of a New York hood was being printed via a phone line in San Francisco. Looked like a ten minute print job, but that was real WHOA! stuff back in the day!
