  1. These had a great sound when being used. When I was really little we had a phone just like that with no dial. The operator would say "Number Please". We had a party line of three other homes and I got in trouble a lot for listening to other conversations.

  2. So easy to get flummoxed between a 0 and a O :-) Remember the old phones well.

  3. No message if you had a busy signal at the other end to tell them you called either. You either kept dialing till you could get through or forgot about it. Repeat dialing was hard on the finger!
I remember my Dad was away and had to get through to the house. My Brother was talking to his friend for about half an hour holding up the line. He got in big trouble cause Dad had to have the operator check for trouble on the line. After that night, the children of the house were allowed one 10 min. phone call in or out only once an hour, and only one call per kid a night!. That was amended as time went on, but there were always "Courtesy Rules" in our home for the phone from that night on.
Anyone else have set times or rules for using the family phones?
LOL, no wonder kids can't wait for anything these days, they aren't being taught patience. ;)
