A little boy falls in love with a carousel horse. Original title: Le Petit cheval de bois. Also known as: The Merry-Go Round Horse. One of my absolute favourites. I first saw this one in my classroom by the flickering light from an old projector. Directed by Richard Balducci, starring Gilou Pelletier.

How cool is that! Thanks for sharing it.
ReplyDeleteI love it! I have been looking all over the internet but cannot find out what has happened to the little boy who was in this and in Clown. His name is Gilou Pelletier if you want to help me dig up some more information. There's a photo of him age 3 taking a photo of an actress on the beach, and he's been in a couple of other films... but when was he born? Where is he now?
ReplyDeleteAhh a mystery
ReplyDeleteHis real name was Gilles Pelletier (not the Canadian actor of the same name) and from snippets of interwebz, he appears to have died whilst still a child. There appears to be some controversy over whether it was a result of abuse or not. However I can't find anything concrete.
ReplyDeleteWhere did you find this? Please send me the link xx

ReplyDeleteI agree with Ann on all counts Jazzy Lemon Wonderful post as usual.
ReplyDeleteI know it is a child story, but it made me wonder as an adult where his parent were and why was he out all over town alone at that age. lol, as a child I simply would have loved it for what it was. How we change the way we see things.
But when I was a child I wandered the neighbourhoods alone. When I was two I would go visit a neighbour who had a baby. This was just a little baby, I was two and babies are one you know! And when I was 3, I had a younger brother and sister and I was expected to look out for them and keep them quiet so my dad could sleep, we were even left alone in the bath. With me in charge by the time my sister could sit up. By 4 I watched them outdoors and tried to keep them happy. I would go off and visit people on my own all the time, and when I started school at 4, I walked there by myself. I also went to friend's houses alone.
ReplyDeleteJazzy Lemon You had many responsibilities for such a young child, and obviously a maturity beyond your years!
ReplyDeleteWell i didn't have much of a choice. Although I did see one of the pictures of me and my brother and sister and although there are only 2 years between my brother and myself and 3 between my sister and me I do look quite a bit older than them. I made up for it by refusing to grow up though.
