Thought I would go ahead and post this one too, for our friend Darran, because I remember him saying something about a hat like these in this photo, of a London Pub, in 1893. I think that's the hat style he had mentioned wanting to find, to purchase one. :-)
Wonderful photo of this very dignified pub. Love the lights. The decorum is great..Hope your friend do find a pub like this one.Just smashing😊
ReplyDeleteNow there's a slice of the Vintage Life. No pun intended, but Oshi Shikigami does inspire me.
ReplyDeleteHonestly wonderful photo.
What happened to Darran around here ?
ReplyDeleteSome people do not know that the term "pub" was originally just a shortening of the name "public house"
ReplyDeleteIn olden days hundreds of years ago, a small town might only have one place large enough for a 'public meeting'
Seeing as it was only needed on occasion, they smartly decided to make it a place of food and libations as well, and the "pub" was born. :-)
Well, if you Ping him by doing this... Darran Hughes he may show up and tell you. ; ) Mostly he is in and out doing things.
