Yep! Ours was similar in color this but had grey speckles and was beyond ugly. Remember those aluminum tumblers, cartoon jelly-jar juice glasses and tupperware popsicle makers and ice-cube tray "popsicles":-)
Mike Martin I think just about everyone had a set of Melmac dishes for everyday back then, along with all the things Ann Kennedy has noted above. It makes me shudder to remember how your fingers could stick to the ice trays if they were at all damp when you took a tray out. The nice thing was you pulled the handle and all the ice came out nicely.
Ann Kennedy - You bet I do! The aluminum tumblers came in pretty colors but would freeze your fingers if there was ice in them. Either jelly or chipped beef jars were the drinking glasses till gas stations started giving a glass with each fill up. And, yeah, the "popsicles." They never amounted to much and besides, we had an ice cream truck. Ah, the Baby Boomer childhood!

ReplyDeleteJust a side note. Melmac is collectible these days.

Margaret Siemers - The photo comes from either e-Bay or Amazon, to be honest. Can't say I'm interested in buying it, though.
