Oshi Shikigami What ever the planes were made of,the pilots certainly flew them with such audacity, they defeated the German attack of England.Courageous, very skilled pilots.Rule Britania...
Amen Nadya Domino! The could have been made of paper. But they did it! They managed to hold the line! So to the men that flew wooden airplanes, with a steel heart, i salute you!
Inka WSmith French pilots as well and who ever could fly.I will stand by my statement, the British showed courage under the attack by the Germans, who were determine to wipe them out of the map
Nadya Domino The British history(even W .Churchill said ) says that without of Polish pilots could be hard .And I talk about British sky not French or other
The No. 303 fighter squadron was manned by polish expatriates that fled to Britain with the fall of France, they were the highest scoring squadron in the RAF at the heigh of the Battle of Britain so they did have an impact. Poland had 27 recorded aces flying with the RAF at the time of the Battle of Britain. The U.K., the Commonwealth and the Empire (and that is excluding aces or pilots that flew under their own nations colors rather than the RAFs) had many more and they outscore the Polish pilots by quite a lot on average. Poles, however, are the largest foreign contingent recognized by the British government, with around 145 men having flown with the RAF during the Battle of Britain out of a total of around 2,100. Added aces during such an important period in the war is sure to have been helpful but the RAF didn't particularly need pilots during the Battle of Britain, contrary to popular belief. The Luftwaffe was running out of crews and planes far faster than the RAF and it was faulty intelligence on both sides that gave us the fabled "One more fortnight and Fighter Command was done". The British believed the Luftwaffe to be much larger than it really was and the Germans believed the RAF to be much smaller than it was and they seriously underestimated British fighter production capabilities. All of the original Polish squadrons in Britain outlasted the war, one of them, the 300 Bomber, even bombed Berchtesgaden at the end of the war. Source: R.A.F. Inka WSmith Not talking about French sky, only French pilots who did participate in the Battle of Britain, many French planes were flown in England ,when the Occupation of Fran ce took place. This does not in any way take a thing away from the Polish pilots or any others.Hitler was a fierce and dangerous enemy.
Nadya Domino I did not say about what nationality pilots were fighting here I mentioned about best of the best . Yes Hitler was evil ,devil and we know that
Inka WSmith Every fighter pilot was the best of the best.We all know that Hitler was Evil so was his Gestapo.Having had most of my family murdered in the concentration camps,I have great Esteem for the people who fought his regime. My husband family came from Poland, his father , Polish born, was very involved with THE Development Of The Radar Shalom
Nadya Domino I am Polish and from both sides of my family were soldiers, officers and simple people and they were fighting but not only with Hitler .Gestapo,Wermacht but with Russian too - Katyn,Miednoye ,,,, so on,so on .Their bones are buried around the world .One of them was Stanislaw Blok pilot one of some aces in battle of Britain Therefore I know full history about it .And believe me I know how good were Polish with Enigma (radar )I know the history of my nation but about yours a little too dear.So as I see we can say a lot about that time and those people .
Inka WSmith Poland has always been the rare pearl that every European Empire wanted ,but never could keep.Your Pride of being Polish is well justified.I am somewhat defensive of France ,it is a kind of punching ball for the American Media ever since its non participation in the Iraqi war.I feel that every EUROPEAN Countries
