THE CORNISH RIVIERA EXPRESS The Cornish Riviera Express started back in 1904 transporting holiday makers from London (Paddington) to Cornwall (Penzance). The service was dieselised in the late 1950s. #steamtrain #train
That is an excellent image! Fun to imagine being young once and traveling on a journey to a new place to start some new adventure, hearing the sound of the train which forever lingers in one's mind, etc.
Mike Perry - It was a great way to get from Suffolk's Wickham Market to Liverpool Street Station in London. It was BritRail, but the equipment still had "L.N.E.R." which I think was London, Norfolk and Eastern Rail. Why do I remember such things?
I'm admittedly jealous of the rail service you have in Britain, Mike Perry!

ReplyDeleteMike Martin I haven't been on a train for many years, can't recall the last time.
ReplyDeleteAnn Kennedy Oh, my word, yes, we don't forget such times and the feeling of excitement.

Mike Martin I think it was the London & North Eastern Railway - covering the north and east of London.
