I'm working on a blog post about the fashion of the Miami Jewish retirement community, especially in the 70s, especially in its muumuu loving flamboyance, as in these photos. Can anyone direct me to a place where I could find more great images like these?

  1. Just googled "Photos of 70's Miami retirement Muumuus" and a slew of them came up. Not all are what you want, but a few.

  2. Thanks, Margaret Siemers. I just did that to see what you got. Most of it was young people trying to mimic the look. I get that and people selling vintage clothes on etsy for a lot of searches I do for my vintage fashion posts. It can get frustrating! I finally did "muumuu grandma" and got some great stuff, though I'll have to be careful to direct people back to the original posts because a lot of them were loving tributes to grandmas who have passed.

I saw a lot of very curvy, older Jewish women and I saw my own future! I never thought of my body type, or its expansion anyway, as part of my ethnicity, but it sure is! I shall now wear my expanding curves with pride! : )

  4. Interesting you should mention that right now. I seem to be at the beginning of "the change"! I'm almost 45 so I guess that's about right. I'm okay with it. I just think it's funny that I'm working on this blog post at the same time. And about to get married for the first time!
