I worked on one of these boats a few years ago. It had been converted to a motor cruiser or houseboat and was up on slipway no. 3 at Ramsgate............ Originally a motor torpedo boat, or MTB, you can see the torpedo tubes on the deck. It had a beautiful shape to the hull and was constructed from layered plywood.
That trailer would take up two lanes..lol. :-) It would be cool to tow just to stop people in their tracks in amazement. :-))

ReplyDeleteI believe the US Navy had a very similar type of boat in World War II.
ReplyDeleteMike Martin indeed they did sir, known as the PT or patrol torpedo boat. I believe JFK served as a lieutenant on one during WW2.
