Every time I see it, it brings tears in my eyes. They say that men don't cry, but it's not true !
Here is the most moving scene of the film. Francesca does her shopping in town with her husband. She sees Robert and she dramatically resists the urge to follow him, by sheer faithfulness to her husband, and this breaks her forever.
"This kind of certainty happens but once in a lifetime".
Even if you have already seen the film, take a few moments to have another look at this scene. The beautiful off voice of Meryl Streep is poetry in its own right.

Yes, it's a very dear film. I have been to Winterset, Iowa many times on the way to other places and the small community is very pleasant and old-fashioned in some of the best ways. That part of Iowa is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteYep, I've seen it about 3 times and I loved it. I loved how Clint Eastwood played a photographer for National Geographic, in this film. And Meryl Streep was amazing in this one.
