So terribly vintage !

So terribly vintage !
Blankenberge is a seaside resort on the Belgian Cost of the North Sea (between Belgium and England).
This card was posted by my uncle and aunt to my brother and I in 1953.
The children on the motorbike referred to the fact that my brother and I were kids of the same age at the time.

  2. Is there a reason for the hole that is punched? Is that something that the manufacturer did or was done later? Laurent TRUILLET

  3. Margaret Siemers Excellent question !
I must have done the hole at a very early stage, when I used to punch all the mail received, be it letters or cards, to file in a ring binder. I have only done that for a short period, and when I grew mature enough, I realized that this method damaged the cards. After that, I kept all cards in what we call a "shoe box". Now I have grown out of the shoe boxes, and I have built two cabinets containing each 10,000 documents... I'll post photos of them some day...
Now, I am going to clean the card and re-post it !

  4. So terribly CUTE!  A treasure!  We've all learned a lot about archiving special things as adults. I so regret taping things, glueing, cutting, etc.! Don't "clean" that image. Someday it will be of interest that there is a hole in it and your method of storing it!

  5. Ann Kennedy I agree with you, Ann. Things should be left as they are, and when i posted this card, I was well aware that the stains and the hole were part of the story.
When I say that I'm going to "clean" it, I mean electronically, of course.  And I'm going to do it, just for fun...
