The train at Haïdar Pacha.
Every picture tells a story. Why would there be some many (Western looking) people board a train in or to an exotic place like Haïdar Pacha?

This station was located in the Haydarpaşa neighborhood of Üsküdar district in the Asian part of Istanbul, Turkey.
Haydarpaşa Cemetery was/is known as a burial place for the British soldiers in the Crimean Wars. (1854-1856)
Afterwards, it also served as a burial place for soldiers of the British Commonwealth from the 2 World Wars, and for British citizens that lived and died in the area.

  1. I'm surprised at the length of the train but there must have been a need for it, particularly for visitors to the cemetery.  Very interesting card.

  2. Ann Kennedy it's indeed not the kind of train you would expect there, but I think the next stop had to be Istanbul Main Station, where the rich folks could board the Orient Express back home.
