As a follow up to Margaret's comment, here is the same image utterly cleaned using Paint Shop.

As a follow up to Margaret's comment, here is the same image utterly cleaned using Paint Shop. And before you say, I also prefer the uncorrected one which has a "feel" that this one doen't have..
But at the same time, the little game we are playing here shows how precious paint Shop can be in other situations. When I decided to digitize all my paper photos from the 10,390 negatives that I kept, I can assure you that I could play Paint Shop like Beethoven played the piano ! The basic use of Paint Shop in this case is to remove scratches and little dust spot that you cannot see on the negatives before you have scanned.
Don't fear, Margaret, I didnt touch the original postcard...

It makes it nice if your going to use it in a presentation, or if you are writing a blog and want to show detail. Nothing wrong with this.
ReplyDeleteNow if you were going to sell the post card, I would be jumping all over you like a cheap suit. It would be misrepresentation and wrong (but that is only because I deal in Antiques and Collectibles and there is a high standard in this business about altering and not doing it.)
Or if like Ann Kennedy (and I must add me too at first ) thought you meant to actually clean the physical card, I would caution you not to do that. Paper for one is very hard to clean and not permanently damage. I could go on, but I think I have shown you that I like it, but with cautions. : )
Margaret Siemers I think we understand each other perfectly. One of my passions is to collect antique toys. Some I get are in a really bad condition, and I am always very careful to decide wether I have to restore or not, and stay in phase with what would be accepted by the collectors community.

That on the picture is an Italian scooter, Lambretta.
ReplyDeletesereno353 You may be right !
ReplyDeleteI checked on Internet, and this image looks like a Lambretta B 125 of 1948.
What do you think ?
LT
Laurent TRUILLET Yes, it's just a Lambretta B125!
