Ann Kennedy - Just looked at your W'msburg photos and you'd only find that the cars are different and probably more tourists than 1967. We enjoy going up there and strolling DOG Street (Duke Of Gloucester) on nice afternoons.
Mike Martin I was wondering about that. I haven't been since the mid-70s and those photos look like the 60s as well. It would be nice live close enough to visit like you do! I have a menu from Christiana Campbell's Tavern and I bet the prices have changed:-) Ice cream was 50¢ and the most expensive item was a New York sirloin at $6.50 which would have been very expensive then!
Ann Kennedy - Mrs. Campbell's now offers: Hickory Grilled Tenderloin = $34.95 Ice Cream = $5.25 They're closed till this Saturday, though, and prices may have changed during the winter. Need a place to stay? Avg nightly rate for the "Inn Superior" room at the W'msburg Inn is $420. Adult single day ticket for "CW" is $40.99 at the moment.
Mike Martin Wow! Thanks, but no way would I pay that for a room at the Inn:-) I could find plenty of ways to spend that $ on other things, like stay in a cheaper place and extend my vacation elsewhere!
Ann Kennedy - Same here, Ann. We tend to choose Best Westerns or Holiday Inn Express. We agree we'll sleep in the car, though, before we stay at another Days Inn!
Great photo! Perfect colors. Just posted Williamsburg pics from 1967 yesterday. Not artistic like this one however.
ReplyDeleteAmazing to think this picture was taken only several miles from my house.
ReplyDeleteI must be a railroad maniac ! (In fact, I am...)
ReplyDeleteI first thought the picture was taken at a station with the tracks at the front...

ReplyDeleteNena C - Thanks, Nena!
ReplyDeleteLaurent TRUILLET - I hadn't noticed that before, but you're right! Those steps do look like rails!

ReplyDeleteMike Martin Agreed. There's something about that smoky smell and 2" gap around the room door:-)
ReplyDeleteAnn Kennedy - This was the last straw for us: http://goo.gl/SkhlX0
ReplyDeleteMike Martin Yuk! That would do it for us as well.
