Not my usual type of post, and it's a one time occasion I promise. My wife came home with these, so just curious about them. Officially they are no stamps, they look more like advertising. The topics are music performances. Judging by the 3rd (the fashion) and the 7th (Erroll Garner Group jazz gig) they must be from the very early 1960s.
They are about 3 cm square each and in German.
Mike, Laurent, anyone else?
I have also known some stamps which are not stamps. I liked them as a child and as a teenager. I had quite a few showing the covers of music records, and I used to put them on real letters, next to the official stamp of course.
ReplyDeleteThe 60's seems to me a good guess...

I've seen stamps that aren't stamps - even some with false postmarks. I have a few pages of them I received from someone in Russia. Some though were simply to mark a special occassion
ReplyDeleteMike Perry Yes, I had a stamp collection a long time ago, and I noticed that some countries tried to make a little money with stamp collectors. The postmarks on the stamps with false postmarks was printed together with the stamp. I remarked on some stamps that I had twice or more that the postmark was always exactly at the same place....
ReplyDeleteLaurent TRUILLET Some of them were quite funny (unintentionally). One sheet of "stamps" I have is supposedly from an very small Scottish Island and shows their rocket and space pictures!
ReplyDeleteMike Perry And as I am a Railway Maniac, I still collect stamps showing locomotives, just for fun. Most of them are issued by countries nobody has ever heard about. I have one stamp from Ajman State showing a vintage LMS loco, and another one from Lao showing the famous Trevithick machine.

Laurent TRUILLET Richard Trevithick was from Cornwall where I live. There are several roads and pubs named after him in the county.
ReplyDeleteMike Perry Oh yes ! I knew perfectly well that he was from Cornwall, but I wanted to let you say it !
ReplyDeleteI have a model of his locomotive...

Laurent TRUILLET Ha ha - cunning!
