When I see someone's post, it often triggers with me a reaction that I may also have something to show on the same subject. I don't know if this appears pretentious, but in my mind, I consider it as a sign showing my appreciation and my interest in the original post.
So here is my follow-up to Ann's coal fired power station.
This is Battersea Power House. It is probably the most famous power station in the world, well known from Pink Floyd's Pigs Album.
The photo was taken from the train on my way to London Victoria in Summer 2014. For many years, this building has been abandoned. It is now listed and on the way to preservation. You can see that they are repairing the famous chimneys. The inside of the building is completely empty. There is no even a roof. So far, they don't know yet what they are going to do inside (a large concert hall ?)
So we shall wait and see (at least those who live long enough !)

It's the largest brick building in Europe. The four chimneys are now being completely re-built. I like the look of it and there will be some interesting apartments within, once completed,
ReplyDeleteMike Perry Thanks for this information.
ReplyDeleteI wonder which four appartments will be connected to the chimneys ! Will they be allowed to burn wood in their open fire ?
LT
Laurent TRUILLET Would be quite a big fireplace for each of the four!
ReplyDeleteThat is a major restoration, very ambitious, but what great structures!
