Quite the dapper young gentleman!
ReplyDeleteWhy we need to note who is in photo's and when and where taken. this face is now the only memory of a member of your wife's past family. I am sorry that happened. The photo is wonderful!
ReplyDeleteMargaret Siemers ,..my post of the Husky dog story has hit the "What's Hot & Recommended" list on G+, evidently. Look at all those pluses. :-)
ReplyDeleteDefinitely very old and what a smart young gentleman he was and love the bowler hat.
ReplyDeleteI'd say around the turn of the last century, based on the clothing. Knickerbockers mark him as still a boy. The bowler hat marks him as working class, probably in something clerical, or aspiring toward clerical work.
ReplyDeleteCharlotte Issyvoo Thank you, Sherlock Holmes, you are probably right !

If you guys have questions about dating photos, and there are humans in clothing in those photos (as one hopes!), do tag me and see if I can help peg the period. It's good also to know where the photo is taken because, say, if it's taken in Halifax, I have to allow for the lag in fashions making their way from Paris to the outskirts. : ) My "real" career is in English literature but fashion is fun too.
ReplyDeleteCharlotte Issyvoo Thank you Charlotte, we shall remeber that !
