THE KISS OF DEATH 1955
THE KISS OF DEATH 1955
I mentioned yesterday about a few photos from 1955 I had uncovered from the area where I lived as a child. The picture today is from the Hayes (Middlesex, England) Carnival and Fair, which the town held every Summer. This is one of the shows at the fair: The Kiss of Death and a beautiful Slave Girl Wonder.
When I became a teenager the Fair was a big attraction and was held in Hayes Park. Lots of memories from going to the fair.

Dude! Love these spectacles! The best one I ever saw was watching The Beautiful Princess Sha'eena Turn Into A Mad Ape Before My Very Eyes. That was at the Lions Club Bluegrass Fair in 1983.
ReplyDeleteLove the photo but not so sure about the concept of spectacles! Our state fair midway still has many of them but they give me the creeps and take advantage of every unfortunate human condition! Everything else about a fair, any fair, I absolutely adore. A real slice of life so to speak.
ReplyDeleteAnn Kennedy - Hmmph. Yeah, you and my wife. She heads straight for the corn dogs and the next stop's cotton candy. Before the sugar gets to her brain, we head for the 4-H pavilion to see the prize bunnies. She loves the lop eared ones.
ReplyDeleteMike Martin We don't see such things nowadays. I remember some of the shows were a bit 'naughty' with some nudity, which as a young teen was rather, er, eye opening for want of a better expression !
ReplyDeleteAnn Kennedy There did seem to be a few 'freak shows' - as they were called - in years gone by which, thank goodness, are now banned. But fairs generally can be lots of fun.
ReplyDeleteI'm not aware that we had the equivalent over here !
