My final post to conclude the chapter of "wearing ties".

My final post to conclude the chapter of "wearing ties".
These photos to confirm that ties were part of the normal everyday dress. And what's more, both were even taken on holyday, without any clothing obligation !
First photo is me visiting Wellingborough Zoo in England in July 1957 (probably taken from the monkeys cage !).
Second photo is my father on holyday in Germany in 1955.
Being photographed with a lion was THE tourist attraction of this sport. This photo could also illustrate our future topic of "street photographers".

  1. Sorry for a typing mistake. In the last sentence, please read "spot" instead of "sport".

  2. I only wear a necktie for funerals these days, but I remember when it was a common practice for everyday wear, Laurent TRUILLET, though I cannot say I miss garroting myself.

  4. There is a little story behind everything !
Yes, I look very much like my father.
    Here is the story :
In the seventies, my father (and mother) had gone several times on holyday in the same hotel in Spain.
The next year, I went to that hotel with my wife. When I stepped in, the manager greeted me and said "Bonjour Monsieur Truillet". When I asked him how he could give me a name (we didnt pre-book, so he didn't get it from there), he said "You look very much like your father, so you must be his son !"
I never forgot that one !
