Hey all, my upcoming wedding is fast approaching. Beau and I are probably going to rent a vintage car for our wedding, at least for our departure. My dress is a beautiful, glorious, beaded, Art Deco style, though it's actually not vintage, so an older car would be just great. We would need one with decent shock absorption though, because my back is so weak and we want to keep my pain levels as low as possible. My step son, who is all about cars all the time, says the older cars are a very bumpy ride. Is he right?  Any suggestions?

  1. When you say older, how old are you talking about?
I would stay away from Model T's on up through the 60's. After that Shock technology got lots better.
That is not to say that a vintage rental car could not have good modern shocks on it. Have Beau test drive what he plans on renting and driving it over the roads you would be passing on before you sign the rental agreement.  He should know what you can and can't take and be able to judge if it would be good for you or not. If you decide the old cars are not a good thing, nothing wrong with a Stretch Limo. More than likely wider doors to get that dress in and out of if you know what I am saying.

  2. Good shock absorbers will do nicely. Consider putting a firm cushion under you and you could look at free standing frame-mounted nylon mesh type back support made for drivers. Try one and see. If you can get one. Motor factors should have them in stock. Have a good day!

  3. Margaret Siemers , my dress has nary a poof on it, not a one, so big doors isn't important. Google image search: Jenny Packham, Eden, Platinum.

  5. I KNOW!!!! I'm so excited. I love that it's not at all conventional, and I love that it's so vintage inspired.
