A motel with a pool was a very big deal when I was a kid as well as a great place for traveling families to meet folks from all over.
We still sometimes stay at a Holiday Inn when we want an inexpensive trip away - not many with swimming pools in the UK though.
ReplyDeleteAnn Kennedy - I remember those days, too, from back in the '60s. By the mid-'70s the Holiday Inn brand lost its luster and I'll spare the unappetizing experiences my wife and I had. I've been very impressed w/ the Holiday Inn Express chain the last few years, though.
ReplyDeleteMike Perry - Within a month of arriving in Suffolk in the summer of '80, I realized why there are few swimming pools in Britain. Put away all of my short sleeved shirts and bought a couple of "jumpers." We sure loved our time there, though.
Brendan Coudal Haha, lookout! Here come those Coudal kids again:-)
