Here's a well kept secret about me. My family owned an island in the Adirondacks where I summered every year. With the island came a million beauties, most of them from the 30s, including a Chris Craft boat.
ReplyDeleteCharlotte Issyvoo Ooooo... Please dish more!!
ReplyDeleteIt's an absolute heart ache for me to find that my uncle has sold the place. My grandmother specified in her will that he was not to do so. I'm furious, to be honest.
ReplyDeleteAs I decorate my home, I realize how much that summer home influences my own aesthetic. It was still furnished with stuff from about 1900 to about 1935, not because my grandparents knew its aesthetic or monetary value, but because they saw no reason to replace perfectly functional furniture. I might try to contact the current owners and see if I can get any little keepsakes from them. Even one of the egg-shaped, brass door-knobs would be a treasure for me.
