Treat them right and they dress up to shop I guess! The Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company (A&P) ad from 1951. By the late 50s there were well over 4,000 stores. Now, about 300 in 6 states but not all using the name, A&P.
Wasn't A&P the chain that featured "Eight O'Clock Coffee?"
ReplyDeleteMike Martin Yes, and I've read that in the 1890s they started marketing the coffee and it was named after the time they believed most people had their coffee.
ReplyDeleteI woudn't be a buyer of that coffee. I wouldn't be able to wait that long.
ReplyDeleteThe A&P was one of the biggest supermarket chains when I was growing up. They were a far cry from the Whole Foods Markets of today.
