SUPREME COURT TRIVIA: DID YOU KNOW Supreme Court Justice William O. Douglas was the longest serving justice in US history - 36 years? He entered under FDR and left under President Gerald R. Ford. On a
lighter younger note, Mr. Douglas divorced his 3rd wife in 1966 to marry Cathleen Heffernan, a law student 44 years younger than him (in photo). He was married to her, despite the difference in age, for fourteen years until he died. He seemed to have an eye for younger women. His last two wives were in their early 20's and getting younger as he divorced each one. Joan Martin, the 3rd Mrs. Douglas, was also a law student. Douglas married her only five days after his divorce from wife #2. He waited a whole two weeks after divorcing Joan before he married Cathleen.
