A shortage in 1942...fats used at home were strained, collected in tin cans and turned in to the butcher.  When rationed, butter required more points and so margarine became more popular.  It was white and came with a packet of yellow coloring.  This poster reminds me of the "shower with a friend" water saving pleas.  A soap & water shortage at the same time would not be good.
