"Having played 657 performances on the New York stage and been translated into ten languages, Clare Boothe's famous comedy, The Women, has now, as was inevitable, been made into a movie. As was also inevitable, it has been considerably change in the process. However, except for the foolish addition of a fashion show, which at once impeded the story and advertises Hollywood's bad taste in clothes, it remains unique and highly enlightening entertainment."

Not only did I find this extremely interesting as a look back, I found the entire magazine to be a fun trip down the back roads of history. Thank you so much John W Poynton for this wonderful adventure.
ReplyDeleteMargaret Siemers: I actually own a hard-copy (remember that?) of every issue of LIFE magazine from the first issue (November 23, 1936) through 1948. I know promoting my blog is a no-no here. But you can find a link to it in the 'About' section of my G+ profile. I've been remiss on posting the last year, but you may enjoy the archives.
ReplyDeleteJohn W Poynton John, your blog is absolutely top-notch and a phenomenal resource.
ReplyDeleteGreat stuff.
ReplyDeleteThere is no restriction about talking about your blog here, and I am myself going to go see it as soon as I post this. The restriction, or rather the preference is to publish blog posts in the Vintage For Sale community. Which I wish you would do if you are so inclined. The smart vintage sellers know these postings attract the general public and so, attract customers.
ReplyDeleteNice blog John
ReplyDeleteThanks, everybody!!
ReplyDeleteVery cool Blog John W Poynton, went there last night and lost myself in it for a while.
ReplyDeleteLike I said above, would love to have you post to Vintage For Sale. It is this site's twin sister and I know it will be appreciated.
