As the Atlantic City, that we all know, draws to a close (in my opinion)...I thought a snippet of the past would be interesting. It was a place like no other and throughout history, it remained that way...from a resort town, to the implementation of gambling, it truly was the place to be. As gambling venues overtake our society, Atlantic City is suffering and it won't be long until the bustling beach city that we once knew, will become no more.

Margaret Siemers I put this in Culture...but if my category choice is wrong, feel free to move it:)
ReplyDeleteNice one Pam. I like the photo on the left. A very interesting piece of history, the way the boardwalk appeared, and how the women were fully dressed, even in the water. I would loved to have visited Atlantic City, when I was living in Pennsylvania from 1985 to 1989.
ReplyDeleteThank you Matthew Woodall ! This is quite the controversy in our state right now. Atlantic City has been sliding downhill for some time now...but there is just so much history there that it saddens me. I am hopeful that it will be re-invented, once again but whoever takes on that challenge will definitely have to be creative in it's conception.
ReplyDeletePam WhimsicalVintage No worries, it's fine here. And it's no biggie if they do ever get moved, just keeping it tidy.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean by it being full of history and a shame that it is falling into despair. But people always love the ocean and in time someone will start to revitalize it.
