I loved this show.
I loved this show. Any body else hooked on this one? So funny, Joel was sweet and the bots were naughty little boys when you get right down to it. You could watch this show with your kids and not worry. Some of the funniest stuff you will ever see if you get to watch it. (I wasn't crazy about Mike Nelson, he didn't have that innocence the part needed.) Vintage MST3K.

the best movies were the Hercules ones. Absolutely laughed until I cried.
ReplyDeleteI watched it a couple of times, but after that, I felt like the show was all about the commentators rather than the show, or movie. But they were pretty funny. :-)
ReplyDeleteIt wasn't for the movies, those were horrible old SyFy's that they picked because it was so easy to poke fun at them. The fun for me was that they would say just about the same things I would say about them.
ReplyDeleteKaren Le Petit Poulailler Yes, they were side splitting! Because all of the voices were dubbed Joel and the Botts really went to town on them. Can you remember what the name of the girl robot was that ran the ship? For the life of me I can't put my finger on it.
ReplyDelete"Gypsy", I think. The sound effects for Hercules riding his horse ...uu ow ee ou ou ou ee ow. And when the evil slinky queen entered the room ... va va va voom voom voom! So much fun. Wonderfully juvenile!
ReplyDeleteThats IT! Gypsy! How could I forget that, its also my cats name!
ReplyDeleteIt was wonderfully juvenile wasn't it? I think that's why I enjoyed it so much. My brothers and I would cut up over bad TV programs like that. It was like being a kid again.
I almost got to meet Joel not too long ago. They have taken the "Show" on the road and are playing in theaters. The cast signed autographs and were so genuinely happy that we loved the shows and when my friend that I was to go with was in line he had them sign the playbill and my unused ticket.
Very rarely does television ever make me laugh out loud, Margaret Siemers , but this show did ! The commentary the bots had during the films was priceless.
ReplyDeleteJohn Kampsen Wasn't it! I am so glad to know so many of you here enjoyed it also. I guess great minds think alike. : )
ReplyDeleteAgreed, this was definitely laugh out loud TV...absolutely loved it! It's funny how 1989 feels like a 100 years ago and yesterday, all at the same time:)
ReplyDeleteSigh, you are so right. Guess that means we are turning vintage too.
ReplyDeleteLike in the discussion of the mini dresses elsewhere on here, I can remember walking the halls of my High School and what it was like to stay away from the banisters on the stairs because you knew some young Freshmen was going to be at the bottom looking up. LOL Remember those things like yesterday, and it was "cough-cough" years ago. : )
